ORGANIZING A RACE TO CUBA WITHOUT COUNTING ON THE SUPPORT OF A HOSTING NAUTICAL INSTITUTION

The Southern Ocean Racing Conference (SORC), an American institution, is promoting a regatta from the city of Miami to Havana without the support of a Cuban nautical institution, by ignoring the Hemingway International Yacht Club of Cuba (HIYC of Cuba), thanks to which the first two editions were recognized as official events by the Cuban authorities in 2016 and 2017. In addition, SORC is using the logo of  HIYC of Cuba without having the consent of this Cuban nautical institution.

In its 26 years of existence, the HIYC of Cuba has hosted dozens of regattas organized by institutions of the American boating community and reiterates its willingness to continue contributing to the construction of the bridge of friendship and collaboration with that community.

Today the Hemingway International  Yacht Club of Cuba is a Sanctuary of love for the sea and friendship between people who love the sea; and a bastion in defense of Cuban history and nautical traditions.

Sincerely,

Commodore Escrich
